Volume breast implants: The desired size or cup after a breast augmentation
Breast implants are sized according to their volume in cubic centimeters (cc).
How do you know what size implant to choose? Looking at pictures and talking to friends who had a breast augmentation might help.
Off course the volume will depend on the shape and size of your actual breasts, your frame and the size you want to achieve.
Our plastic surgeon will advise you thoroughly. Bringing pictures of a desired restult to be shown to our surgeon, might be very helpful.

What cupe size will I need after my breast augmentation?
To determine your cup size you should take two measurements:
To start with you measure around your chest (underbust measurement), then measure around the breasts where they project the most (bust measurement). The difference between the underbust measurement and the bust measurement gives you the cupe size.
A difference of 12,5 centimeter results in an A cup. Every 2,5 cm more of difference will give you a cup size more.
In principle the cup size is determined as follows:
Cup size | Difference between underbust and bust measurement |
Cup size A | 12,5 cm |
Cup size B | 15 cm |
Cup size C | 17,5 cm |
Cup size D | 20 cm |
Cup size E | 22,5 cm |
Cup size F | 25 cm |
There is off course variation in cup size by the manufacturer. You should also be aware that a 70A is significantly smaller than a 85C. Remember that there is no standardization of cup sizes and that you shouldn’t buy a bra without trying.
Moreover there are European and French sizes. You should add 15 cm on the European size to get the French size. Below an example:
- European size 70 A = French size 85A
- French size 100 E = European size 85 E
