Drooping eyelids do not only block your view but also make you look older and more tired. Eye bags of the lower eyelid only enhance this view.
With eyelid correction or blepharoplasty, skin folds or ‘fatty hernias’ which form bags under or above the eyes can be removed.
Incisions in the upper eyelid are only made in natural folds of the skin so that post operative scars are practically imperceptible. For the lower eyelid the incision is made right under the eyelashes.
An eyelid correction or blepharoplasty takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the extent of the operation and it is normally performed under a local anaesthetic.
After the operation you might experience some bruising or swelling of the eyes but this will disappaer after approximately seven days.
We advise you to cool the area around the eye with ice (no ice directly on the eyes) and to wear dark sun glasses during the first week after the eye correction.
Sutures will be removed after 4 to 5 days.
Eyelid surgery brings about a more alert and less tired view.
